While you might think that role of Thor is about as epic as Chris Hemsworth can get, I think Ron Howard has found something with some massive scale, and not just in the literal sense. His latest feature, IN THE HEART OF THE SEA, focuses on the whale ship Essex in 1820 crewed by Captain George Pollard, first mate Owen Chase (Hemsworth), and second mate Matthew Joy (Cillian Murphy), among others. During their voyage, the ship is struck by a large bull sperm whale, ultimately leaving its crew shipwrecked at sea for 90 days over a thousand miles from home. Now a poster has been unleashed that shows you what the crew is up against.

Ron Howard's career, DA VINCI CODE and beyond, wasn't looking too bright in my humble opinion. That is, until a partnership with Chris Hemsworth proved fruitful in the film RUSH. I'm happy to see the two working together again, especially on a seafaring story such as this. Howard's eye for authenticity along with Hemsworth's and Murphy's charisma are looking to yield an exceptional picture for the start of 2015. This looks like one of those films you'd expect during the awards season, but I'm happy we have something epic to look forward to during the first quarter of 2015.  Now can we assume that Mastodon's Leviathan will be providing the musical backdrop for this film?

IN THE HEART OF THE SEA aims to arrive in theaters on March 15, 2015.
