Rosamund Pike, who we’ve seen in some unfortunate genre flicks these last few years (DOOM, WRATH OF THE TITANS) is joining up with the lovable trio of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to bring us the end of the world.

Ms. Pike has joined THE WORLD’S END, which is the final installment in Wright’s unofficial “Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy” (so called because SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ and now WORLD’S END feature the ice cream brand).

Here’s what we know about the project, which begins shooting next month:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

The role Ms. Pike has taken on has not been described yet, but it might be safe to assume she’s an unamused girlfriend of one of the characters? Just a guess.
