THE RUINS hasn’t even come out yet, but already its newbie director Carter Smith has his next project lined up, this one for Miramax: a thriller called COME CLOSER, based on a novel by Sara Gran.

The story is about a woman who begins experiencing bizarre occurrences that may or may not mean she’s possessed. Doing some brief research on the novel, it appears most everyone likes it. Brian Nelson (HARD CANDY, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT) is scribbling the adaptation..

This is the second novel Smith is bringing to the big screen that is supposed to be a truly frightening read. I’ve heard up and down how THE RUINS is one of the scariest modern books around (although I still haven’t gotten to it). COME CLOSER apparently fits the same bill. This dude must have the goods – we’ll have to wait until April 11, when THE RUINS is released.
