Russell Crowe in talks to stalk Dracula in newly-revived Harker

I had honestly forgotten all about HARKER, the updated version of DRACULA being prepared by Warner Bros. and Jaume Collet-Serra (ORPHAN). The project, penned by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, first hit the radar almost a year ago today, but it didn’t take long to drift away when Collet-Serra became attached to the live-action AKIRA movie. But since that flick has been (temporarily) shut down, it would appear as though HARKER is back from the grave… and it might be bringing an A-lister with it.

According to NY Magazine’s Vulture Blog, Russell Crowe is currently “in talks” to join the film as the titular character, who has been re-imagined as a
Scotland Yard detective investigating Count Dracula’s string of grisly murders in England.
Vulture doesn’t offer up how close Crowe is to actually signing on, but it’s worth noting that he just began shooting LES MISERABLES and might star in Darren Aronofsky’s epic NOAH. Point being, the man is busy, so if indeed he takes the role, HARKER would likely have to wait a while for Crowe to finish up other business.

All speculation, though. At the moment, it’s not even clear if HARKER has gotten the go-ahead. We’ll alert you when we learn more.
