SOLOMON KANE is a strange project. But not because of the subject matter, Puritans fighting demons in Africa is a cool enough concept, I just don’t understand how this film is being marketed. It seems like I’ve been hearing about it for years, but I’ll be damned if I can tell you when it’s coming out (and research shows American release date is still TBD).
Even though this new trailer is in Russian, it’s fairly easy to deduce what’s going on. Solomon Kane must kill bad guys. That’s really about it. It looks like VAN HELSING meets LORD OF THE RINGS meets the parts of THE FOUNTAIN where Hugh Jackman was a Conquistador. That should sound appealing in theory, but this project is so all over the place I can’t make a judgment about it.
