Ryan Reynolds in talks to join Rebecca Ferguson in Life

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

Starring Ryan Reynolds and scripted by ZOMBIELAND's Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the irreverent super-antihero film DEADPOOL just made $282 million at the global box office in its first five days of release. In the wake of this, it's no surprise to hear that Reynolds is already in talks to join another Wernick/Reese project, the sci-fi film LIFE.

This would be a reunion for Reynolds and director Daniel Espinosa as well; the pair worked together on the 2012 action movie SAFE HOUSE, which I thought was quite good even though I wasn't a fan of its teal-soaked skakycam visual style.

Little is known about LIFE beyond the fact that it will show what happens when

the crew of the International Space Station, after retrieving a sample from Mars, discover that it displays signs of life and proves to be more intelligent than expected.

If the deal with Reynolds is closed, he would be joining the previously announced Rebecca Ferguson in the cast.
