It looks like director Tarsem Singh is about to team up with another superhero. Sort of. Tarsem’s IMMORTALS starred the future Superman, Henry Cavill, and the filmmaker is now set to join forces with GREEN LANTERN himself, Ryan Reynolds, in the Black List 2011 script SELFLESS, written by Alex and David Pastor (CARRIERS).

Here’s the story:

The thriller focuses on a wealthy older man who discovers he’s dying and pays to have his mind transplanted into a younger man’s body. Turns out that body is a cadaver whose previous inhabitant was murdered. Soon, he’s hunted by killers as he tries to get to the bottom of who took him out in the first place.

Sounds pretty cool to me. I’m a big fan of Tarsem’s work, minus that unfortunate MIRROR, MIRROR business. I loved IMMORTALS, warts and all, and it features a terrific performance by Cavill, which ultimately sold me on him as the future MAN OF STEEL. Tarsem also directed the Vince Vaughn/Jennifer Lopez thriller THE CELL, which was a visual mindf*ck of coolness and a very underrated fantasy pic called THE FALL. Great stuff from a visionary filmmaker.

Having the director on a sci-fi thriller sounds like a great fit and Reynolds will do just fine. More as this develops.
