Saban Films have acquired North American rights to Darren Lynn Bousman’s DEATH OF ME starring Maggie Q and Luke Hemsworth. Bousman directs the film from a screenplay written by Ari Margolis (BLACK DAYS) & James Morley III (INTREPID) and David Tish (BLOOD MONEY).

Set on an exotic island, DEATH OF ME has been described as "THE WICKER MAN meets THE GAME". Q and Hemsworth play

A couple on an exotic holiday who awakens one morning with a hangover and no recollection of what transpired. When playing back the video of their previous night, they learn they participated in a ritual that somehow ended with the husband murdering the wife — though she’s actually very much alive.

STARRY EYES breakout Alex Essoe evidently plays an Airbnb owner who becomes an ally to the couple as they try to figure out what's going on.

Saban Films’ Bill Bromiley said:

Darren has been a staple in the horror genre from early on with the Saw franchise, and we are thrilled to be partnering with him on his latest film. The suspense and chemistry that Maggie and Luke bring to the screen will keep audiences enraptured through this wild ride.

Envision Media Arts’ Lee Nelson produced the flick along with David Tish and Samuel Marshall Production’s Charlie Dorfman. Executive Producers for the film’s financier Media Finance Capital are CEO David Gilbery and Marlon Vogelgesang, alongside Tannaz Anisi and Greg Schenz for 13 Films.

EMA’s Lee Nelson said:

We’re thrilled to be working with Saban again. They’ve proven to be a great destination for producers like us who are interested in bringing quality concept-driven material to the marketplace.

13 Films represents the foreign rights and will be presenting the film to buyers at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival having already inked a number of key deals for the film, which will be unleashed here in the US next year.
