Sabrina to be romanced by My Friend Dahmer star in Netflix series

Ross Lynch My Friend Dahmer

After getting his start working on projects for the Disney Channel, actor Ross Lynch ventured out of family friendly territory to impress viewers with his performance as a young Jeffrey Dahmer in last year's MY FRIEND DAHMER. Now Lynch is taking on a role that's a bit closer to his Disney days than his Dahmer days – he will be playing Sabrina the Teenage Witch's love interest on Netflix's upcoming dark reboot of that Archie Comics property.

Lynch's Sabrina character is even compared to a Disney character, Prince Charming. He is Harvey Kinkle, "the prince charming of this dark fairy tale, Harvey is the son of a coal miner, a dreamboat and a dreamer, completely unaware of the dark forces conspiring to keep him and Sabrina apart."

Nate Richert played Harvey on the Sabrina the Teenage Witch series that ran from 1996 – 2003.

This new series is said to be quite different from that one, taking tonal inspiration from ROSEMARY'S BABY and THE EXORCIST. Kiernan Shipka stars as Sabrina, and the show will find her

wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal, while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

Sabrina Spellman is described as an empowered young woman — half-human, half-witch — who is just beginning her dark education as a sorceress, even as she tries to maintain a normal life as a sophomore at Baxter High. Intelligent, compassionate and brave to the point of recklessness, Sabrina is all that stands between us and the forces of darkness that threaten our world.

Shipka and Lynch are joined in the cast by Miranda Otto as Sabrina's disciplinarian aunt Zelda, Lucy Davis as her nurturing aunt Hilda, Jaz Sinclair as her best friend Rosalind Walker, Chance Perdomo as her warlock cousin Ambrose, Michelle Gomez as her favorite teacher Mary Wardell, who becomes possessed by the devil's handmaiden Madam Satan, Bronson Pinchot as Baxter High's villainous puritanical principal George Hawthorne, and Richard Coyle as Father Blackwood, High Priest of the Church of Night and Dean of the Academy of the Unseen Arts, a man with a "terrifying dark agenda".

Netflix has ordered 2 seasons of this Sabrina show (which was announced under the title Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), each consisting of 10 episodes.
