Zoe Saldana’s Gamora will join the fight for Avengers: Infinity War

While prowling the red carpet of this year’s Golden Globes event, actress Zoe Saldana told MTV News that her GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY character, Gamora, would be joining the fight for Anthony Russo and Joe Russo’s next epic for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.

In paying attention to the casting calls for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, it’s been thought that the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY characters: Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Drax, Gamora, and Groot would appear in the film – though nothing was concrete until yesterday evening, when Saldana confirmed her involvement in the highly anticipated project by saying the following:

I don’t know when they’re gonna let me read it [the script].  I mean, I’m not looking forward to the five hours of green make-up, but every time I finally arrive on set I feel so happy and lucky to be there.

There’s no doubt that the process of applying the Gamora makeup is an arduous one, though I’d say the undertaking is well worth it, when you consider just how much of a joy it is to watch Gamora kicking ass and taking names up on the big screen.

You can catch Gamora and the rest of the Guardians when director James Gunn’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 blasts into theaters on April 25, 2017.
