Sam Raimi admits Spider-Man 3 mistakes; would love to work with Marvel

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The first SPIDER-MAN film, along with Bryan Singer's X-MEN, was largely responsible for kicking off the booming superhero genre which we're fortunate enough to enjoy today. The first three SPIDER-MAN films, all directed by Sam Raimi, consisted of one good film, one great film, and one film which is better left unmentioned. SPIDER-MAN 3 (shit, I mentioned it) wasn't entirely bad, but due to miscasting, inappropriate dance numbers, and Raimi being forced to shoehorn an additional villain in, it's mostly remembered for being the film which killed the franchise.

In an interview with The Week, Sam Raimi acknowledged that he messed up on SPIDER-MAN 3 but revealed that he'd be open to returning to the character once again should Marvel need him:

I messed up on the third one, I think they're so complete now, Marvel. They probably don't need me anymore. But if they needed me? I'd love to. It's great to be wanted.

Spider-Man has been rebooted for the third time with Tom Holland set to debut new younger version of the role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR on May 6, 2016, which will then be followed by a solo Spider-Man film on July 28, 2017. I really hope that they've finally got all the spider-kinks worked out this time around, as I don't think I have it in me to get excited about a fourth reboot of the web-slinger.

Would you like to see Sam Raimi get involved with Spider-Man once again, or are you glad the character is in fresh hands?
