Samhain Lives?

Christian Viel’s SAMHAIN has been in
limbo since the year 2001. Why? Legal entanglements
arose due to some crooks who worked on the
production among many other things. Recently, “FANGORIA” and Hart Sharp announced that they would be
distributing the uncut SAMHAIN in DVD in February 2005 . Hey
I’m all for that where the flick was fun, gory, nudity-filled cheese, but if you
go on writer/director Christian Viel’s Official Site, this is what he says about
the whole thing:

– I spoke to a gentleman named Steve this
morning who I guess works for Harp & Sharp. The conversation started on the
wrong foot with them being incensed that I was selling “copyrighted” material on
my website (Re: Samhain). Well, it’s funny for me since I didn’t get paid for
creating the materials in the first place therefore since the contract is hence
null and void, the rights are still mine.

It looks like it is official. Fango has announced that Samhain will be
released. Steve hasn’t called me to confirm if I’ll get paid or not or whatever
else… I’ll be floored if this ever happens.

– Looks like they are
planning on releasing Samhain next April. He mentioned hoping to get an 83
minutes version so it’ll definitely be cut.

My conclusion: will
Samhain be released uncut in February 2005 by Fango? I’ll buy it when I see it! Till
then, read my review of the roughcut/uncut “Samhain”

here.
