Hi-Ya and Holy Shit! We’ve got Samurai Zombies!!! Fango just scored some info and stills from one wacked-out, kick ass new movie! The full title is SAMURAI AVENGER: THE BLIND WOLF and it comes to us from producer Chiaki Yanagimoto. He affectionately describes this flick as ”A new-age action-hybrid sushi Western loaded with bloody swordfights, crazy assassins and samurai zombies.” How could you not be down with that?! Now, take a swipe at the plot’s synopsis:
It’s about a man who seeks revenge against a villain who took away his sight and slaughtered his wife and daughter. Eight years after the massacre, the blind man returns to the village as a highly trained samurai swordsman for revenge, but he doesn’t know that seven assassins await, hired by the villain, and are after his head.
Sounds like your basic samurai western, however from the pics above and below, I’m happily positive that way more horror and gore is in store!
SAMURAI AVENGER was directed by Kurando Mitsutake who wrote the script with John Migdal. The great gore factor comes courtesy of FX artist Michael Del Rossa. Principal photography wrapped last month after a grueling 24-day shoot. Postproduction is expected to be finished by September when Yanagimoto will begin looking for distribution. I’m guessing she won’t be met with much resistance.
