The undercover character comedian extraordinaire, Sasha Baron Cohen, isn’t forgetting about the character that propelled him into stardom. While Cohen shot up into pop culture with the release of Borat, illustrated by the many bad impressions people attempted over the years, and followed that up with a revival of another one of his staple characters in Bruno, Cohen will be suiting up as his signature fictional rapper character who is the proclaimed “voice of the youth,” Ali G. He is set to revive the satirical interviewer for a stand-up tour that Cohen is currently planning.

According to Variety, Cohen is denying that he has a movie in development and the comedic chameleon, who is a writer and actor, is abiding by the restrictions as both the writers’ union and actors’ union strike. A source tells Variety, “As a SAG and WGA member he is supporting the ongoing strike alongside his fellow writers and actors.” However, Cohen had surprised an audience at an Sydney, Australia location of The Comedy Store with a performance as his rapper from Staines. Cohen proclaimed at the time, “I just wanted to get on stage and muck around and see what Ali G would be like with a crowd. It was really good fun.”

Cohen’s notoriety has prevented him from being able to revisit his now-famous characters with the intention of fooling subjects as people have now caught on to the act. It was even made a plot point in the 2020 sequel to his breakout hit, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, where Borat found himself running from excited fans looking to get in on the joke.

Since then, Cohen has created a multitude of newer characters for his Showtime original series, Who is America? His new characters would include an anti-terrorist Mossad agent, a far-right citizen journalist, an overly sensitive liberal lecturer, a recently released British ex-convict, an Italian billionaire playboy, and a Finnish YouTuber.

No further details have been unveiled for Cohen’s stand-up tour other than Ali G’s appearance.
