I love 3-D movies. It really doesn’t matter the quality most the time, I’m a fan of the gimmick and I’m not afraid to admit it. Anytime there’s a chance to check out some sweet 3-D action (especially at the IMAX theater), I’m there- regardless of what’s playing.
Which makes this news from Production Weekly all that much more exciting. Jed Weintrob, who directed the BLOODWINGS: PUMPKINHEAD’S REVENGE video game, is set to direct the full length feature SCAR in 3-D/HD! Starring Angela Bettis (MAY) as a woman returning to the town she graduated from to confront her terrifying past: at the age of 16, [she] and her best friend were kidnapped and extensively tortured by a serial killer named Ernie Parish. [She] managed to escape and kill her captor, but it appears as though he has somehow come back from the dead, intent on continuing his macabre and deeply disturbing proclivities.
Yes, you read right. A gritty, slasher/zombie flick in 3-D! How frickin’ cool is that? Generally there’s usually some sort of gimmicky reason for making it in 3-D, and judging from this synopsis, I can’t really see one. Sounds like it’d be a great movie on its own- with 3-D as being a bonus. Nice!
Set to begin filming around October 3rd, SCAR is looking to tickle a slew of horror fans with its serial killer premise, and its 3-D effects. And that’s just swell.
