Yet another horror remake announced today, this time it’s John D. Hancock’s 1971 creepfest LET’S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH.

According to Variety, Paramount has hired writing team Bennett Yellin (DUMB & DUMBER) and James Johnson to write the remake, simply titled LET’S SCARE JESSICA. But is it a true blue remake?

This one centers on a fearless young man at a college in Colorado who, while pledging a frat, must prove his allegiance to the house by scaring his girlfriend into believing the college is haunted. The prank then takes on a life of its own…., as opposed to the original
in which a woman just released from a mental hospital tries to start over by moving into an old New England farmhouse.

Oh, right, I’m starting to see the similarities… the woman’s name is Jessica… and, um… yeah, that’s about it. Why not give it a different title, and have it be it’s own movie? Why label it a remake? This doesn’t make any sense folks, not one bit. What’s next, a remake of FRIDAY THE 13th, about a little boy named Jason who joins the cub scouts, and get’s lost in New York City on a field trip? Yeah. Exactly.
