While both taking a break from contributing to Marvel's MCU, it's been announced that Scarlett Johansson has signed on to join Taika Waititi's upcoming World War II movie set in Nazi-era Germany. As Johansson is busy ironing out the final negotiations of her contract for the film, Waititi is said to be hard at work while crafting the follow-up to his ultra-successful Marvel adventure, THOR: RAGNAROK.
Waititi's new feature project will be titled JOJO RABBIT, and centers on a 10-year-old boy figuring out how to fit in in an increasingly fascistic Germany and creating an imaginary friend as a result. Johansson will step into the role of the boy's mother, who can't quite grasp the reason for her child's fears and the challenges he's facing.
In addition to his role as the film's director, Taika Waititi will also produce with Carthew Neal and Chelsea Winstanley for Fox Searchlight. What's more is that the WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS director will also join the feature as a part of the cast. JOJO RABBIT is on schedule to begin production in the spring, leaving plenty of time for more intriguing actors to be added the curious WWII venture.
