If it’s a haunted carnival… it must be clowns! Oh shit! Not more evil clowns! You know I can’t stand ’em! Well, regardless of my personal fears, writer/director Jay Woelfel is bringing us his latest circus act entitled CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. Despite the long list of sideshow spookfests already crowding the DVD shelves, this one seems to be showing scary sparks of originality. Plus, bonus points for shooting at an actual condemned amusement park in Ohio. Here’s the plot:
The story involves a young man and woman trying to escape from the attraction, guided by a dead carny. To do so, they have to relive assorted scary stories associated with the place (most based on real legends surrounding the location) and the couple begin to realize that they themselves may be part of the park’s mythology, trapped there forever.
Sounds potentially creepy to say the least. I like the fact that Woelfel incorporated real ghostly tales from the area around the park.
