This past June, my man Eric informed us that Mr. Billy Madison himself, Adam Sandler was starting up a horror-themed production company called Scary Madison (an extension of his Happy Madison conglomerate). The first genre flick he is producing is called THE SHORTCUT and it just wrapped this week. Here’s its synopsis:
Two brothers come upon a rarely used shortcut in their new town-and soon discover the reasons why it’s so rarely used.
I don’t know. I guess it could be alright. SHORTCUT was written by Scott Sandler and Dan Hannon, and directed by Nicholaus Goossen (who made Adam’s GRANDMA’S BOY, which actually is pretty funny). However, we’re dealing with Horror here not stupid, slapstick comedy. Will SHORTCUT be more along the lines of say, SCARY MOVIE? Not quite, according to star, Shannon Jardine (above with Goosen). Here’s what she said:
“Nicholaus certainly embraced the humor when I worked with him, but only where it was appropriate. Terror is clearly the film’s number-one mandate.” Okay, that’s fine, however even though the flick is filled with a fair share of gore, it’s still aiming for a PG-13. Boo!
