Variety scored some interesting news this morning, as they report that Paul Scheuring (the creator of TV’s ‘Prison Break’) has been tapped to write and direct a flick called THE EXPERIMENT for Inferno Entertainment.
THE EXPERIMENT will be a remake of the German flick DAS EXPERIMENT, directed by Oliver Hirshbeigel. The original went a little something like this: Psychological thriller revolves around a prison experiment that turns violent when the subjects get out of control. Also, according to Wikipedia, the flick (made in 2001) was inspired by the Stanford Prison Experiments that happened in the United States.
Are we thinking a little something-something like BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR here? Probably not as gory, but the same idea of prison experiments gone wrong. Since it’s from the dude who brought us ‘Prison Break’, a psychological prison movie sounds like it’ll be good times, for sure.
Production has been scheduled for sometime this spring. Apparently the original German flick is super-intense and Grade A all around, so you’ll have plenty of time to check it out before this bad boy hits theaters. Stick around for more news on THE EXPERIMENT, including any and all casting news, as we hear it!
