Schwarzenegger updates: Terminator, Expendables, Conan

In addition to signing on to play the President of the United States in the feature length follow-up to the cult favorite short KUNG FURY, Arnold Schwarzenegger is also planning to revisit some of his most popular franchises. While checking out Schwarzenegger's bodybuilding and fitness expo the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio, the folks over at The Arnold Fans were able to get updates on some of his upcoming projects.

First is the latest entry in the TERMINATOR franchise, and this new one isn't just another sequel. This marks TERMINATOR creator James Cameron's return to the series for the first time since TERMINATOR 2. Cameron will be producing the new film, with DEADPOOL's Tim Miller directing. Schwarzenegger revealed,

We are starting to shoot Terminator 6 in June to the middle of October, so I am in that. I am looking forward to coming back as the T-800 model. It's gonna be great with Tim Miller as the director and Jim Cameron is kind of supervising the whole thing."

If TERMINATOR 6 is shooting from June through October, Schwarzenegger is going to have to somehow fit his role in his buddy Sylvester Stallone's THE EXPENDABLES 4 right into the middle of the TERMINATOR production, or they'll have to catch up with him after October. Schwarzenegger's EXPENDABLES co-star Randy Couture told The Arnold Fans,

I’m excited about Expendables 4. Right now, we’re scheduled to start filming in August and hopefully we’re able to stay on schedule. It sounds like we’re coming back to Bulgaria, which is exciting. I’ve spend a lot of time in Sofia and Varna and I’m excited to come back. I love the people, I love the food and I’m excited to come back."

Beyond TERMINATOR 6, THE EXPENDABLES 4, and KUNG FURY, Schwarzenegger also has the TWINS sequel TRIPLETS in the scripting stage, and is set to star in a Western series called Outrider for Amazon. A mystery set in the Oklahoma Indian Territory in the late 1800s, Outrider is

the dark and dangerous tale of a deputy who is not only tasked by a notoriously brutal judge with apprehending a legendary outlaw in the wilderness – but must also partner with a ruthless Federal Marshall (Schwarzenegger) to make sure justice is properly served. And as the story unfolds, not only will enemies become allies, but a series of unpredictable surprises will blur the line between good guys and bad.

That sounds awesome to me.

Although the THE LEGEND OF CONAN film Schwarzenegger would have starred in was scrapped in favor of a Conan series that's being developed for Amazon, Conan executive producer Fredrik Malmberg has said that he would like to have Schwarzenegger appear on the show as King Conan, narrating stories of the adventures he went on in his younger days. Schwarzenegger seems to have been notified that he may be needed for the series, as he mentioned,

Then they are also writing King Conan."

Seems to me like this is a great time to be an Arnold Schwarzenegger fan!
