Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the release date for DAPHNE AND VELMA, a live action origin story that takes a look at the lives of the title characters before they started riding around in the Mystery Machine with Scooby-Doo. Directed by Suzi Yoonessi from a screenplay by Kyle Mack and Caitlin Meares, the film is scheduled to reach DVD, Blu-ray, and digital on May 22nd.

Sarah Jeffery and Sarah Gilman star as Daphne and Velma, respectively. The story is set at

Ridge Valley High, an innovative center of learning for some of the brightest minds in the nation, including both Daphne Blake and Velma Dinkley. Together, the best friends discover a number of questionable disappearances on campus as kids who were once full of life appear to become “zombified.” The mystery brings Daphne and Velma together to see if they can solve the case.

DAPHNE AND VELMA was produced by Ashley Tisdale and Jennifer Tisdale through their company Blondie Girl Productions, along with Blue Ribbon Content.

You can check out the trailer for DAPHNE AND VELMA below, and if you would like to add it to your DVD/Blu-ray collection you can pick up a copy at THIS LINK.

Rated G, the film looks much more likely to appeal to young viewers who are accustomed to the style of modern Disney Channel shows than to adult, longtime fans of the Scooby-Doo property.
