Scope out this trippy new Midnight Special trailer

So far, for me the biggest draw of Jeff Nichols' John Carpenter tribute MIDNIGHT SPECIAL is by far its music. The pounding driving score is a perfect evocation of the electric anthems provided for Carpenter's early work in the 70's and 80's. That's enough to get my butt in the seat, but if you need more, check out the new trailer for the film, which exposes a little more of the plot, but not quite enough to keep it from being trippy as hell. The video is below!

A father goes on the run to protect his young son, Alton, and uncover the truth behind the boy’s special powers.

What starts as a race from religious extremists and local law enforcement quickly escalates to a nationwide manhunt involving the highest levels of the Federal Government. Ultimately his father risks everything to protect Alton and help fulfill a destiny that could change the world forever, in this genre–defying film as supernatural as it is intimately human.

Starring Michael Shannon, Kirsten Dunst, Joel Edgerton, Sam Shepherd, and Adam Driver, MIDNIGHT SPECIAL will beam into theaters on March 18th.
