If you're not familiar with the name Scott Derrickson yet you must have been gone for a few weeks, so welcome back. His name is now synonymous with the DOCTOR STRANGE movie if you want to catch up on that. Turning to new business now, it seems MGM is interested in bringing THE OUTER LIMITS to the big screen and has rounded up Scott Derrickson and his SINISTER co-writer Robert Cargill to helm the script.

In Derrickson style, he Tweeted out the news:

The big-screen adaptation of the 1960s sci-fi television series will tackle one of the series episodes. Written by Harlan Ellison, the episode titled “Demon with the Glass Hand” will be the focus for the movie. It centers on a man who can only remember the last ten days and who is being hunted by an alien race. The man has a computerized hand and determines that he's actually from the future.

So we get aliens and time travel? That sounds like THE OUTER LIMITS to me! It will be interesting to see if the movie is successful as it could create a whole new audience for the old series and a new franchise of movies for different directors. You can watch the episode here on Hulu if you live in the US; sorry eh.

Derrickson also co-wrote and directed DELIVER US FROM EVIL, which opens July 2nd 2014.
