James Ransone, Scott Derrickson, The Black Phone, Sinister

James Ransone is ready for more spooky shenanigans as THR has reported that the actor is slated to reteam with Sinister director Scott Derrickson for The Black Phone. As it happens, the upcoming adaptation of Joe Hill's short story is also set to star Ethan Hawke, who worked with James Ransone in Sinister.

The Black Phone will tell the story of a young boy who finds himself locked in a basement that's stained with the blood of half a dozen other murdered children. In the cellar with him is an antique telephone, long since disconnected, but which rings at night with calls from the dead. Creepy, I love it. Ethan Hawke will play the kidnapper, with Mason Thames playing the kid, Jeremy Davies playing his father, and Madeleine McGraw playing his sister. As for James Ransone, his part is being kept under wraps, but THR says that he's playing a character named Max.

Scott Derrickson will direct The Black Phone and also co-wrote the script alongside C. Robert Cargill, which was adapted from Joe Hill's short story of the same name that was included in his 20th Century Ghosts story collection. James Ransone was recently seen in It: Chapter Two as the adult version of Eddie Kaspbrak.
