As curious as we all are to see Ben Affleck's take on the Batman, I may even be more excited for his next directed-film, LIVE BY NIGHT. Adapted from the Dennis Lehane novel of the same name, the story follows the son of a cop, Joe Coughlin (Ben Affleck) and his rise to criminal power during the prohibition-era. As of now, Chris Messina, Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning, Max Casella and Chris Cooper have all signed on for respective roles, but now the role of Coughlin's brother has been filled by Scott Eastwood.
Eastwood has a few movies on the up-and-coming, although you may recognize him mostly from some behind-the-scenes pics from SUICIDE SQUAD. While Affleck wasn't on that set for very long, perhaps what he saw made an impression on him. Either way, Eastwood joins a list of impressive actors, and fans of his directing style have a bit of a wait before we can see Affleck's next flick. Given his relationship with Warner Bros., I'm crossing all of the fingers in hopes that he decides to work behind the camera for the solo Batman flick as well!
LIVE BY NIGHT is scheduled to hit theaters sometime in 2017.
Ben Affleck did a hell of a job directing this Lehane adaptation, so I can't wait for LIVE BY NIGHT!
