Scream 5: Neve Campbell “excited” to reunite with her old Scream cast

It just isn't a SCREAM movie without Neve Campbell and that's why fans were ecstatic to learn that the actress would be coming back to play Sidney Prescott in SCREAM 5. As excited as we are for her to return, Campbell is just as excited to reunite with her fellow SCREAM cast, Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

Campbell was speaking with "Entertainment Tonight" and she revealed her excitement about seeing old friends and also that she's just about to start filming her role in the latest sequel:

"I am leaving soon [and] I am looking forward to getting back to work. It will be the first time since March and I am sure we are all dealing with getting back to work, so I am excited about that. I am excited [about] stepping back in Sidney's shoes and seeing Courteney and David. Those movies mean so much to me for my life and career and they are always a blast to do, so it should be fun!"

Throughout all four prior SCREAM movies, Campbell's Sidney managed to make it to the end along with married couple Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale Riley (Courteney Cox).  This stroke of luck allows all three of them to return for SCREAM 5 and although all three were hesitant to do this without the late Wes Craven, who helmed the four previous films, they all seem to have faith in READY OR NOT helmers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who will be taking on the directing duties this time. They represent two-thirds of the directing trio Radio Silence and their pitch is what got all three vets to return for another round with Ghostface. The third part of the team, Chad Villella, is taking on producing duties with franchise creator, Kevin Williamson. 

SCREAM 5 isn't just about returning favorites. The horror sequel has secured a cast of young up and coming talent that is bound to help usher in the franchise to a new generation of fans. These new faces include Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Jack Quaid, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mikey Madison, Mason Gooding, and Sonia Ben Ammar. SCREAM 4 star Marley Shelton will also be back as Deputy Hicks, and Roger L. Jackson returns as the voice of Ghostface to complete the circle of nostalgia. Plot details are scarce but what we do know is that the story will follow "a young woman who returns to her old hometown, only to encounter horrific murder cases connected to an infamous masked serial killer." A cast this stacked also means a high body count and one has to believe that no one is safe, even the three stars that have managed to survive all four films. Is it possible that even they can bite the dust? We'll have to wait and see when SCREAM 5 hits screens on January 14, 2022.
