Scream 6 image meets Ghostface in a dark alley

Ghostface is set to “take Manhattan” in the upcoming Scream 6, which is set to reach theatres on March 10, 2023 – and a new image unveiled by USA Today shows the slasher standing in a dark, creepy alleyway! You can take a look at the image at the bottom of this article.

Although set in New York City, Scream 6 was actually filmed in Montreal. Directed by Scream 2022 directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by Scream 2022 writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, this one will show us what happens when the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.

Those four survivors are the Scream 2022 characters played by returning stars Melissa Barrera (as Samantha Carpenter), Jenna Ortega (as Samantha’s sister Tara Carpenter), Jasmin Savoy Brown (as Mindy Meeks-Martin), and Mason Gooding (as Mindy’s brother Chad Meeks-Martin). Courteney Cox is reprising the role of Gale Weathers. Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra, Samara Weaving, Tony Revolori, Dermot Mulroney, and Henry Czerny have also been cast in unspecified roles. And Scream 4‘s Hayden Panettiere is back as Kirby Reed. According to YouTuber Critical Overlord, it looks like Thomas Cadrot might be in the cast as well.

Vanderbilt is producing Scream 6 with Paul Neinstein and William Sherak for Project X Entertainment. Original Scream screenwriter Kevin Willamson serves as executive producer alongside Chad Villella, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, Marianne Maddalena, and Spyglass’s Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre.

Neve Campbell was asked to reprise the role of franchise heroine Sidney Prescott in Scream 6, but passed on it due to a pay dispute.

Are you looking forward to watching Ghostface stalk the alleys and subway tunnels of New York when Scream 6 is released in just a couple months? Let us know by leaving a comment below. I don’t really get hyped for new Scream movies, but I’m guaranteed to watch them all. The initial trilogy was enough to satisfy me, and the sequels that follow are a nice bonus.

The one year anniversary of the release of the previous Scream is coming up in just over a week.
