The landmark Netflix series Stranger Things has been casting up its second season, but until recently they've just been casting teens and kids, who naturally won't be played by established actors. In this newest set of hires, however, things are heating up.

Joining the cast are Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, and Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen.

Berthelsen (who will be playing Roman, “an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab.”) is a newcomer to the Hollywood scene, but those other names are a huge get for the show.

Astin, who has held roles in classics like THE GOONIES and the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, will be playing Bob Newby, “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.” So we're not leaving the 80's, that's for sure.

Reiser, who played Burke in ALIENS but has more recently appeared in WHIPLASH and THE DARKNESS, will portray Dr. Owens, “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.” So, Matthew Modine but even more evil. I'm down!

Stranger Things season 2 will also star Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Dacre Montgomery, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, and Noah Schnapp.

Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2017.
