After helming Scott Gimple as the new showrunner for the upcoming fourth season of THE WALKING DEAD I guess AMC figured they might as well hire some new writers while they’re at it. According to THR, Curtis Gwinn and Channing Powell will join Matt Negrete as part of the new writing team of AMC’s walking dead hit.

The duo join a staff that also includes Gimple, who has been with the series since season two, executive producer Robert Kirkman (who created the comics on which the drama is based), Negrete, newly promoted executive producer Greg Nicotero, Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert, Evan T. Reilly, Angela Kang and Nichole Beattie, among others.

I’ve enjoyed the third season the most so far so AMC is obviously doing something right despite seeing Darabont and Mazzara both leave the show — it’ll be interesting to see what Gwinn and Powell bring to the table.
