Set in the near-future, MUTE follows Leo (Alexander Skarsgard), a bartender living in the pulsing city of Berlin. Because of a childhood accident, Leo lost the ability to speak and the only good thing in his life is his beautiful girlfriend Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh). When she vanishes without a trace, Leo's search for her takes him deep into the city's seedy underbelly. A pair of wise-cracking American surgeons (Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux) are the only recurring clue and Leo is forced to take on this teeming underworld in order to find his love. From the man who brought us MOON and SOURCE CODE (and WORLD OF WARCRAFT, I guess) comes the first images for MUTE!

MUTE is exciting for a lot of reasons, but the first and foremost is that we're getting another science-fiction film courtesy of Duncan Jones. I thought that WARCRAFT was hot, steamy, SyFy garbage, but that doesn't mean I don't think he's a gifted filmmaker with some interesting stories to tell. The fact that this one is going straight to Netflix just means the wait will be THAT much shorter!

Netflix will launch MUTE sometime in 2017.
