We have a major announcement! Forget about all those big-budget superhero flicks, action extravaganzas, and Terrance Malick art-house snooze fests…this is the news you’ve been waiting for!

“Atlas Productions, LLC announced today that “Atlas Shrugged Part 2”, the second installment of the Atlas Shrugged movie trilogy, has been officially greenlit with principal photography to begin this coming April in Los Angeles, Colorado, and New York.”

DID YOU HEAR THAT???

Oh, there’s more kemosabe…wait, let me just stop right there and have you take a look at this sweet ass teaser for the film. Get ready for greatness. Make sure you’re sitting down.

After seeing that teaser I almost forgot what THE DARK KNIGHT RISES was!

Atlas Productions is planning a trilogy of films, which follows the three part structure of the book. “Part 1 was released theatrically on April 15, 2011. Part 2 is set to be in theaters October 2012 amidst what is sure to be a fever pitched presidential election season.”

Oh, snap.  They went there. It’s a smart marketing move, I suppose, as keeping anything relevant to current affairs can help (or hinder) a project, but it feels kind of cheap to me.

The book Atlas Shrugged is about a dystopian United States where the government is overtaking the country and silencing those who drive society’s growth and productivity and the resulting revolt against the movement.

Ayn Rand is a very influential and important writer, full of controversy and philosophy, and I can’t help but feel she deserves better production value. I mean, take a look at the trailer for the first film

Now, as one of the biggest selling and most influential books on the market, you’d think they could rub two nickels together to produce a better-looking film.  Many big name stars circled an adaptation in the past, from Clint Eastwood to Angelina Jolie, which is just a big tease for what was actually produced.

If you can’t do it right…how’s the rest of it go?

To further whet your appetite, they have produced this teaser poster, which was done by a 6th grade Photoshop class.
