The first poster for a fun-sounding flick (up top) just got released. It’s called HOW TO BE A SERIAL KILLER and I’m having real trouble figuring out what the plot could possibly be. Well, I guess I’ll just take a stab in the dark and say: It’s a dark comedy about a young serial killer who imparts his knowledge to an eager pupil.
Yeah, I think that’ll work. That poster sort of suggests a light-hearted AMERICAN PSYCHO, which is just fine with me. Hmm, why don’t we try delving a little deeper into the plot:
Mike Wilson is a charismatic, educated, and articulate young man who has found his life’s purpose in exterminating people. Mike is determined to spread his message about the joy of serial killing and recruits a lost soul named Bart to be his pupil. Mike leads Bart through the ethics of serial killing as well as teaching him various lessons in disposing corpses, balancing work and play, methods of killing, and many, many more. Mike and Bart’s curriculum is interrupted when Mike’s girlfriend discovers what’s beneath her boyfriend’s charming exterior and Mike and Bart must kill their way out of being discovered by the cops.
Nice! Sounds like we’ve got some shades of BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON in there too! SERIAL KILLER was written and directed by Luke Ricci and stars Dameon Clarke, Ryan Smith, Laura Regan (DEAD SILENCE, below), George Wyner, Mary Jo Catlett, and Matthew Gray Gubler. It’s set to release some time in 2008.
