Shark movie In the Deep becomes The Shallows and lands filming location

We've been reporting on the shark thriller IN THE DEEP for a little while now, but we're going to have to get used to calling it by a different name, as the project's title has been changed to THE SHALLOWS. Kind of odd that they switched it around to the opposite of the original title, but it works.

Jaume Collet-Serra is set to direct THE SHALLOWS from a screenplay by Anthony Jaswinski that centers on

a young woman who is dealing with the recent death of her mother who, while surfing on an isolated beach, gets stranded 20 yards off shore on a buoy. What lies between her and the shore is a huge great white shark.

Blake Lively (pictured below) recently entered negotiations to star as the endangered woman.

THE SHALLOWS will begin filming in November at Village Roadshow Studios on Queensland, Australia's Gold Coast, where the production will be able to showcase the area's beaches and make use of the studio's water tank, the largest in the country.

Sony Pictures has the film scheduled for a June 24, 2016 release date.
