Well ladies and gents, SHARK NIGHT 3D is currently chomping away at theaters across the country on this extended Labor Day weekend (read The Arrow’s review!) and it seems it’s director David R. Ellis is already moving on.

According to the folks over at The Hollywood Reporter Ellis has already lined up another project. It’s going to be a live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime KITE. Do you guys have any idea what that is? Good neither did I. Until THR told me:

Directed by Yasuomi Umetsu, the original film, released in 1998, tells the story of Sawa, a young woman living in a corrupt state, who vows to track down the man who murdered her father, who had been a cop.

Now we’ve got something! Consider my interest officially caught. Distant Horizon’s Anant Singh and Brian Cox are producing along with Detalle Films’ Moises Cosio and Alejandro Saevich.

KITE is set to start production this January so expect a lot more updates soon!
