More details revealed on the Sharknado/Archie crossover

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

There used to be the saying "If it's Halloween, it must be SAW", and while the SAW franchise is taking a rest for now, another annual series has started ruling its own time period. "If it's July, it must be SHARKNADO", as for the third July in a row the world is set to be hit by a fish-filled twister when SHARKNADO 3: OH HELL NO! (yes, that is the actual title) premieres on Syfy on July 22.

But SHARKNADO 3 isn't the only sharknado action that will be making its debut on July 22. In a comic book scheduled to be released on that date, an iconic character will also be dealing with the nightmarish weather event in ARCHIE VS. SHARKNADO and we now have a synopsis for the unexpected crossover:

It’s that time of year in Riverdale! The end of the school year. Time for beaches, barbecues, fun in the sun and… SHARKNADOS!?!  That's right, get ready as Archie and the gang brave the storm of a tornado full a sharks that riffs off the pop culture phenomenon known as Sharknado! The story unfolds as sharknados are spotted on the "Feast" Coast! Our heroines have to figure out how to get back to Riverdale, where the storm is about to hit next. Soon Archie and the gang go, go, go as they battle the Sharknado-ravaged Riverdale! Who will live? Who will die? Will this take a BITE out of the end-of-the-year prom? Uh… probably!

SHARKNADO series director and former Fangoria writer Anthony C. Ferrante teamed with ARCHIE veteran Dan Parent to write the one-off issue, which Parent also drew with Rich Koslowski.

ARCHIE has had some oddball crossovers before, the high school lad has crossed paths with the Punisher and the Predator, but it's always tough to wrap my head around these things when I hear about them. At the same time, I feel compelled to read them and see how they could possibly work.
