Shia LaBeouf gets a good amount of hate on this site but the guy is not an awful actor. More than a lot of people in Hollywood his age, LaBeouf is not content to just cash a paycheck and would rather explore the different aspects of his craft. Whether that means the end result is good or not is a different discussion. But, you have to admire how varied his roles are. One of those is CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN.
We saw the official trailer for CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN last month and now we have a very NSFW red band trailer that expands on the darker side of the film. While the love story between Charlie (Shia LaBeouf) and Gabi (Evan Rachel Wood) is here, we now have a lot more footage of Mads Mikkelson‘s gangster character who definitely does not look like someone you want to f*ck with. We also see more of Rupert Grint as Charlie’s friend as well as some nice shots of T&A. By T I mean you see lots of tits and by A I refer to that fleeting shot of a bloody asshole. Yes, a literal asshole.
When his late mother appears in a vision and tells him to go to Bucharest, Charlie immediately boards a plane across the Atlantic. But when he meets a fellow passenger, Charlie finds himself with another promise to fulfill. Charlie does so – and falls head over heels in love with Gabi, a beautiful musician. However, a vicious gangster has already laid claim to Gabi, and has no intention of letting her go. Determined to protect her, Charlie enters into the hallucinatory, Romanian underworld filled with violence and, strangely enough, love.
CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN is the film debut of Fredrik Bond and looks like an interesting watch. The movie also stars Melissa Leo, John Hurt, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Til Schweiger. It premieres in theaters and VOD on November 15th.
