Yesterday CHUD talked with writer Phil Hay, who wrote last fall’s AEON FLUX, about a few upcoming projects that he and his writing partner Matt Mangredi are currently working on. While they’re heavy into the comedy RIPD for WEDDING CRASHERS director David Dobkin, they also talked about another movie they wrote called PARASYTE.
So besides the catchy title, what’s so cool about this new horror film? Director Takashi Shimizu (THE GRUDGE) is at the helm! Yeah! Here’s what
Mangredi and Hay had to say:
“We haven’t been involved in the project in a while and I know there were other drafts and things, so I’m not exactly sure what direction he’s planning to go with it. I certainly think it can be a very interesting and cool movie. The version we wrote was definitely in the Tremors vibe. It was very much a horror-comedy. I don’t know if that’s Shimizu’s direction, or if it’s going to be more straight horror this time around.”
I’d be interested to see if Shimizu could do a horror comedy, as most his movies are straight up terrifying- but even then, I’d be down! TREMORS is the bomb, and SLITHER was a lot of fun, so bring it!

Stick around to see where this develops, but it’ll be awhile before the camera begins rolling on this one- Shimizu’s currently filming THE GRUDGE 2 in Japan.
