THR reports that Amazon MGM Studios has picked up Shots! Shots! Shots!, an action-comedy starring Jason Momoa, which was previously set up at Universal.

Plot details are being kept under wraps for the moment, but the project has been described as a “family-centric adventure that has tones of James Cameron’s True Lies, Liam Neeson’s Taken franchise, and recent Paramount hit The Lost City.“
Momoa is in talks to star and would also produce. The project comes from a spec script by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows. As I mentioned above, Universal initially picked up the project, but began to rethink the budget. Amazon MGM Studios quickly snagged it, as their last film with Momoa, The Wrecking Crew, was a big hit.
The Wrecking Crew
Speaking of The Wrecking Crew, the buddy action-comedy, which was released earlier this year, follows estranged half-brothers, Johnny (Momoa) and James (Dave Bautista), who reunite after their father’s mysterious death. As they search for the truth, buried secrets reveal a conspiracy threatening to tear their family apart. Director Ángel Manuel Soto has even discussed a possible sequel.
“With an energy and sense of fun that has been missing from the action genre for quite some time, The Wrecking Crew lives up to its title with a non-stop blast of violent action that doesn’t let up from beginning to end,” wrote our own Alex Maidy in his review. “Sticking close to the tropes of the genre, the film gets a boost from the pairing of Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa who have proven that they make a dynamic duo. I would love to see these two reteam after having a good time watching this movie. My biggest regret is not getting the chance to see this in a theater where I am positive the crowd reaction would have been very strong.“
Supergirl
Next up for Momoa will be Supergirl, where he will be playing Lobo. The actor has high hopes for the character and even recently teased that he’ll push for an R-rated Lobo movie if Supergirl is a success. The film will hit theaters on June 26.
