Silent dark comedy

A long time ago, in the year 2001, we reviewed a whacked-out little horror/comedy called TREES which was a pretty ingenius parody of JAWS. Only instead of having a killer great white shark as the monstrous villain, TREES had a killer, well, tree. Regardless, The Arrow sure thought is was a good, silly time, especially if you’re a JAWS fan!

TREES writer/director, Michael Pleckaitis, now has a brand new flick on the horizon and once again, it’s looking like one crazy romp! It’s called SILENT and you’ve gotta check out the simple, yet genius synopsis:

The film is a dark-comedy about an outlandish girl who is cursed with a ‘real’ voice in a silent-film world.

Pretty different. Pretty cool. Looking to bring the nostalgia factor, Pleckaitis says, “During the silent film era, it was ok to talk while the movie played. A common bond was created as the audience reacted to what took place on the screen. Our film is designed with this in mind. We want our audience to cheer for the hero and hiss at the villain just like they did over 80 years ago.”

From the look of SILENT’s graveyard scene up top and its official website, I’d say that nostalgic would be a good term to use. Check the site out here and be sure to watch the very unique trailer too. The flick stars Sam Sebastian, Dan Bailey, and Katie Ritz. It will be premiering some time this fall. Plus, Pleckaitis is based in Jersey so he must be awesome!
