Silent John: Aisha Tyler to direct horror-thriller

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Deadline reports that actress-comedian Aisha Tyler (Archer, Whose Line is it Anyway?) has signed on to direct the psychological horror-thriller Silent John, described as "a socially conscious psychological thriller that explores the unholy fanaticism of a man lost in the chasm between faith, the church, and madness".

Here's the official synopsis:

A young couple comes to stay at a rustic B&B in Ireland in the weeks before their first child is born. At first charmed by their Irish host, they soon discover he and his mute groundskeeper share a viciously harrowing secret. Soon they cannot discern friend from foe, and their dream getaway becomes a nightmare they cannot escape. Fueled by the historic abuses of the Catholic church against unwed mothers, this socially conscious psychological thriller explores the unholy fanaticism of a man lost in the chasm between faith, the church and madness.

Meanwhile, this isn't Tyler's first foray into directing, as she also directed 2017's Axis, and several episodes of television. Now, while I haven't seen anything she's directed unfortunately, I've definitely liked Tyler's work as an actress and comedian, so I'll at least keep an eye out on this one for sure!
