ShockTillYouDrop got a meaty scoop regarding a project I don’t think any of us previously knew about – a Joel Silver and Leonardo DiCaprio produced thriller entitled ORPHAN, which is apparently getting ready to roll in mid-December.
The site lays out the following synopsis: Young mother Kate Coleman is devastated by the loss of a baby (and her inability to conceive again). She and her husband John decide to adopt another child in order to fill the empty space in their broken hearts. Little could they know that the child they adopt Esther would turn out to be anything other than what they’d hoped for.
Another devil-child movie? Eh, I’m fairly non-plussed. I haven’t yet seen JOSHUA but I’ve heard it covers this ground fairly effectively. Then again, ORPHAN already has a few high-profile names attached in Silver and whats-his-face, so maybe there’s more than meets the eye going on here. No writer or director has been announced despite the impending start date.
