Don’t know if this is because 30 DAYS OF NIGHT is quality, or it’s just because the trailer kicks so much ass, but director David Slade (he also did the f*cked up HARD CANDY) has got his next project lined up: an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s NEVERWHERE.
The really bizarro-sounding book is about a businessman who gets trapped in an alternate dimension in London, where he encounters all variety of crazy shite. (There’s more to it than that, obviously, but I think my synopsis works pretty well)
This is somewhat surprising news coming on the heels of STARDUST laying a stinky egg at the box office – but he’s also got BEOWULF (for which he co-wrote the screenplay) coming up, and his name still rings out for lots of people. He had this to say to MTV Movies about the project, which has stalled off and on for years: “When it comes to movies, the dead certainties never happen and the things you think are dead come back to life. I have no predictions and absolutely no theories. I watch everything that goes on in Hollywood with amusement and occasional trepidation…but mostly amusement.”
