We’ve been keeping up fairly regularly on a little Aussie slasher called SLEEPER (see here and here). Both Jared P. and I (the AITH “slasher-freaks”) are digging on it pretty hard. We’ve already seen some pretty enticing pics (like the one above) and now we finally have ourselves a trailer. So, does the “dig fest” continue?
Absolutely! At least, according to my eyes. I love the way it starts off with the look of an aged filmstrip, showing a group of friends having fun while an oldie-type song plays over all the sound. Then, of course, the proverbial shit hits the fan with a lot of screaming, violence, pissed-off policemen, and one hulking bad guy. The trailer is playing right now at SLEEPER’s official website. Here’s another look at the plot: Enigmatically silent, and driven by love, the man known as Resnik was imprisoned for butchering another man and kidnapping the young girl at the heart of his obsession, Kelly. For the safety of his fellow inmates, Resnik was only ever allowed to wake, eat, and exercise alone, after dark… and he learned to like it.
Now having escaped during a midnight transfer, Resnik is headed back to Moonlight Bay, and Detectives Raynor and Molloy have only 12 hours to stop him before the sun goes down and the carnage begins, again.
SLEEPER was written and directed by Dru Brown and stars Kym Jackson, Scott Levy (below), Bruce Hopkins, and Ty Hungerford. I’ll keep my eye out for a US release date.
