We’ve been hearing writer/director Kevin Smith talk about wanting to do a horror movie for last few weeks (check it out HERE), and today it looks like we’re seeing a ‘preview’ of what direction he’d like to go with that…
According to Production Weekly, Smith is set to direct the pilot for the new CW comedy/drama REAPER, which goes a little something like this: a 21-year-old slacker learns that at birth his parents sold his soul to the devil and now has to pay the debt by becoming the Satan’s bounty hunter, retrieving souls escaped from hell.
Nice! Though Smith didn’t write this badboy (that credit goes to Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters), he will be at the helm to bring it to life, with hopes of landing a series out of it. Most likely this isn’t the horror project that he has planned, but is likely a ‘feeler’ project for him to see what he could do with the genre. Pretty slick move, as if you want to experiment in horror, it might as well be for a TV pilot before you dive head first into a full feature film.
Word around the campfire is that filming is set to start March 12th in Vancouver for a mere 2 week production. Stick around for more news and updates on Smith’s REAPER, and to check out the full scoop, go ahead and click HERE.
