Wasn’t this guy supposed to retire? Dude’s a f*ckin’ dynamo!

As Steven Sodgerbergh is set to cast HAYWIRE into theaters next weekend, the equal parts indie-and-studio director is already starting to fill roles in his new psychopharmacology thriller THE SIDE EFFECTS. Namely, as The Playlist reports, Blake Lively (below), Jude Law and Channing Tatum (seen right) have all agreed to star in the film. Lively will play the film’s tormented lead, Tatum will play her incarcerated husband, and Law will play Lively’s new shrink.

Formerly referred to as THE BITTER PILL, THE SIDE EFFECTS is a potboiler in the Jagged Edge-Basic Instinct mold about a troubled and depressed woman (Lively) who is taking serious amounts of prescription drugs to deal with the anxiety surrounding the pending release of her husband (Tatum) from prison.

Although I like THE BITTER PILL as the better title, my guess is a name change came after Summit Entertainment left the project. Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures looks to be the replacement. Also, remember Ti West has been linked in the past to a sci-fi project called THE SIDE EFFECTS as well. It’s going to be fun to see which races to the finish line first (my money’s on Soderbergh all damn day).

If you don’t want to take bets, at least weigh in on these casting choices. Do Lively, Law and Tatum conjure enthusiasm? Be honest.
