Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Lee Majdoub to return as Agent Stone in the upcoming sequel

Lee Majdoub returning as Agent Stone for Sonic the Hedgehog 2

It’s National Coffe Day and Lee Majdoub has a case of déjà-brew! Why the pun, you ask? Well, it’s because Majdoub is officially confirmed for a part in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Naturally, Majdoub will be reprising his role as Agent Stone, Dr. Robotnik’s right-hand man, and professional coffee wrangler.

Majdoub’s return to the franchise was confirmed via social media on Wednesday, with Paramount and Majdoub sharing the news alongside a fun new photo. The photo depicts a delicious caffeinated beverage with Agent Stone and Dr. Robotnik’s likenesses made from foam. The images look exactly like actors Majdoub and Jim Carrey. It’s uncanny. There are even a few hearts floating around both characters. It’s adorable, and in all likelihood, very delicious.

Directed by Jeff Fowler, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 stars Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Idris Elba (Knuckles), Jim Carrey (Dr. Robotnik), James Marsden (Tom), Tika Sumpter (Maddie), and Natasha Rothwell (Rachel). Plot details for the sequel are being kept under wraps, though we do know that beloved Sonic characters Tails and Knuckles will get a proper introduction in the new film. Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington are writing the screenplay.

While Sonic the Hedgehog did receive negative attention before its release due to the main character’s janky character design, the film went on to gross over $319 million at the worldwide box office. Once the movie reached theaters, many praised Carrey’s over-the-top performance as Dr. Robotnik, calling it a proper return to his comedic roots. Audiences were also surprised about how much they liked the film in general. Let’s face it, video game movies have a history of being suboptimal, and so Sonic the Hedgehog being more than decent was a real treat.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to come racing into theaters on April 8, 2022.
