Happy Good Friday everyone, now let’s get to the horny naked she-bitch from outer space!

Coming Soon has posted the TRAILER for the new SPECIES movie, titled SPECIES IV: QUATTRO.

The first SPECIES is one of the most entertaining and unintentionally hilarious movies of the 90s, with Ben Kingsley trying to say his lines seriously, Michael Madsen in full on I’d-rather-be-drinking-away-this-hangover mode, and Forest Whitaker’s ominous and brilliant insights (like when they find the bloody corpse of a man, Whitaker proclaims “She’s been here…”).

SPECIES II however is complete asshattery, a really gross and uninspired mess. How they got James Cromwell to do it will forever be a mystery to me. (wait, money? Mystery solved!) SPECIES III I can’t really talk about, since I’ve only seen bits and pieces on Sci Fi, but it looked very cheap and boring (in its defense, the gore and nudie bits were cut out, so perhaps it’s a masterpiece with those back in).

Color me surprised to find that SPECIES IV doesn’t look half bad, at the very least its production values seem decent enough. It stars Ben Cross (he of “Dark Shadows” fame), Dominic Keating (he of “Star Trek: Enterprise” fame) and an adorably deadly little thing named Helena Mattsson (she of “ripping your nuts off while looking hot” fame).

What I don’t understand is why this series hasn’t gone the BRIDE OF CHUCKY route already: stop taking itself seriously and have fun with its increasingly worn-out concept, which is ripe with opportunities for icky black comedy and (even more) gratuitous nudity. Set the thing at spring break or the Playboy mansion and run with it!

“Hey babe, you think you could uh, change back, please?”
