Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has gone on to become one of the biggest box office hits of the summer. So far, it’s earned $378 million domestically and another $300 million worldwide. To put that into perspective, the last film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, only made about half that worldwide. While the third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, has been indefinitely delayed thanks to the strike, fans can revisit the second film at home much sooner than expected, with Sony dating it for a VOD release on August 8th. The 4K UHD and Blu-ray/ DVD release happens just under a month later, on September 5th.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has become a favourite film for many superhero fans this summer. While The Flash and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny may have burned people out, Across the Spider-Verse brilliantly delivered on the promise of the original and had fans dying for Beyond the Spider-Verse, even if no one knows precisely when it’s going to come out at this point. Then again, if it turns out like the last two films, let them take their time making it so it can be everything we want it to be.
