Spiked fairy tale

Once upon a time… I heard about an upcoming, independent horror-infused fairy tale called SPIKE and just had to tell my fellow AITH-ers about it! This one looks pretty sharp… in style! I’m a big fan of twisted bedtime stories to begin with. There’s just something satisfying about innocence combined with creepiness! SPIKE certainly seems to fit that particular bill. Get a load of its synopsis:

Love bends wills, endures, and kills. A young woman finds herself trapped in a nightmarish fairy tale come true, and must rescue her friends from a strange creature who idolizes her and will have her at any cost. “There is always some madness in love….”

Sounds pretty killer. Sort of a f*cked-up BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, perhaps? I’m really digging that early poster art (above) as well. I also highly recommend you check out the flick’s official website here for pics (like the one below), storyboards, clips, behind the scenes, and more!

SPIKE was written and directed by Robert Beaucage and stars Sarah Livingston Evans (below), Jared Edwards, Anna-Marie Wayne, Nancy P. Corbo, and Edward Gusts as ol’ SPIKE himself. There is no set U.S. release date, but hopefully that will change soon.
